History

The construction of this Fort, located on the beach of Tamariz in Estoril, dates back to the 19th century. XVII in the reign of King Filipe III of Portugal. It was inserted in a line of fortifications defending the coast that extended from Praia do Abano (Guincho) to Caxias. It was intended to prevent eventual enemy landings for the purpose of occupying the Capital.
