The Best Looks From The 2018 BAFTA Awards

February 18th 2018, the 71st edition of the BAFTA Awards, granted by the British Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Television, was held in London.

Again, many of the guests have dazzled on the red carpet, and many others have attracted attention for their daring looks. Almost all of them strictly followed the dress code previously established by the BAFTA organization, that is, the black colour that refers to the Time’s Up movement that strives for equality and the end of sexual harassment in the film industry. Continue reading to see who shone in black!

Angelina Jolie

Angelina was the star of the gala, reminding us that despite the irregularity that has marked her life in recent years, she is still one of the best in the world of cinema. Her ‘look’ by Ralph & Russo in pristine black left her back fully exposed, showing her tattoo that she is also known for. The single-strapped dress, dropped on her arm, highlighted by a suggestive but delicate neckline. The look was topped off with large Graff earrings and a simple bowFind out how to choose the right jewellery to match your outfit

Kate Middleton

The Duchess of Cambridge accompanied her husband, Prince William, jury of the prestigious gala. But the controversy came from her dress. The Royal Family is forbidden to position itself in political affairs and the Duchess of Cambridge is not one to buck the trend. However, her olive green dress by Jenny Packham did include a thin black belt... Will this be a nod to the movement that reigned at the BAFTAs? Make sure you get your outfit right by avoiding these mistakes.

Margot Robbie

She is one of the stars of the moment for her performance in I, Tonya as a leading actress, which has earned her countless positive reviews and the BAFTA nomination for Best Actress (also an Oscar in the same category).

While we wait for what happens at the gala on March 4 (Frances McDormand took the BAFTA), last night we enjoyed her black dress by Givenchy, with details on the skirt and a tulle that starts from the neck and reached the toes. The dress is suggestive through the tulle and leaves the shoulders exposed. She kept her hair simple, giving her a natural but powerful look for the event.

Saoirse Ronan

She is a regular at awards galas and although she is only 23 years old, she has already been nominated for three Oscars (along with her BAFTA nomination for Best Actress). Her Chanel dress, with vinyl, transparency and feathers swirled on the same beautiful surface. It is a complex black, with some brightness and certain blue tones, but perfect for a woman as original as her.

Jennifer Lawrence

The talented actress did not disappoint and once again wore a Dior dress for the BAFTAS. With a square neckline that brought enough elegance to the set, the actress slightly broke the rule of black with a white shawl that provided a touch of spark.

Emma Roberts

Also with a sweetheart neckline, Julia Roberts’ niece wore a sophisticated Schiaparelli Haute Couture dress with a neckline that plays with sensuality along with a classic cut which made an interesting contrast. To round off the look, she carried a golden mesh clutch and matching earrings that cascade down.

Lupita Nyong’o

The Kenyan actress usually opts for white, blues and oranges to walk on red carpets. But this time it was time to support the #Timesup cause, and the star has continued to shine in spite of everything. She did not need a striking colour, but the natural charm of an Elie Saab Haute Couture dress with crossed straps.

Salma Hayek

A woman like Salma always stands out, even if she’s not always the best dressed. On this occasion, she showed of the work of Gucci with a figure hugging dress with bulging sleeves. Embroidered with flowers on the shoulders, wrists and waist, the Mexican once again demonstrated her great seductive power.

Allison Janney

The BAFTA winner for Best Supporting Actress was one of the most daring artists on the red carpet. She participated in the Time’s Up movement with a black Bibhu Mohapatra satin ensemble, but this one bucked the trend with some daring golden sleeves that were tied at the neck.

Octavia Spencer

The 2012 Oscar winner and BAFTA nominee for Best Supporting Actress for The Shape of the Water wore a black Sachin & Babi dress with sequins, two tulle sleeves to the elbows and Chopard jewellery.

Greta Gerwig

She’s set to be one of the great names of the future in cinema, and she’s already been nominated for Best Director at the Oscars and for Best Screenplay at the Hollywood Awards and at the recent BAFTAs. On this occasion, she wore Jonathan Cohen embroidered in rhinestones with floral shapes.

With the exception of some attendees, all those involved knew how to add personality to their ‘looks’ without forgetting the strict and necessary black label imposed by the BAFTA organization for the Time’s Up movement. Which one do you prefer?
