The queen of Gota Patti, Anita Dongre, unveiled her new collection online in July 2018 and then went ahead with the Vogue Wedding show to enchant the discerning visitors. Her collection titled ‘Odyssey’, is inspired by Rajasthan’s exquisite culture and nature. Wildflowers, lakes, lush trees and nature’s ornate canopies are the inspiration behind the motifs of ‘Odyssey’. The winter collection proudly integrates the color palette derived from rich Rajasthani craft with a conscious blend of forest’s colors & creatures of Ranthambore, that are rooted in many eras of heritage.
“Eras of heritage and age-old stories of nature are etched into our collection. ‘Odyssey’ is a journey of love and life, through the silent chaos of a forest“, says the designer. Once again she marvelously merged ‘gotta’ with other age-old textile work–Dori, sequin, pearl, zari, zardozi and kardana work. The colors are predominantly emerald green, sapphire blues, rich golds, and ruby reds. But the designer has also included quintessential millennial colors like rich golds and pastels.
The collection celebrates the passion of a bonafide relationship. “Promises of pride and respect for each other, of fulfilling dreams and spending a lifetime together entwine with the sacred vows of marriage, as two souls pledge towards their personal universe of forever“, says the designer. The collection also celebrates the dauntlessness of an Indian bride, who is a non-conformist and who’d rather pop the question herself to her man.
It feels phenomenal to hold a ring box in your hand—a surprise meant for your loved one. The butterflies, the anticipation and the eagerness to hear a ‘Yes’… its exhilarating!
