How to celebrate Karwa Chauth: 10 steps

Karwa Chauth is the biggest festival for married woman in India in terms of her married life. On this auspicious day, all the married or aspired to be married women keeps a day fast for the long life of her husband. It is celebrated mostly in north India and brings along the love and care among the beautiful relationship of a husband and a wife. Doing the fast of Karwa Chauth is believed to be a matter of great destiny in India. All the women celebrate this occasion in different ways, respective of their culture and beliefs. following are the ten steps on how you can celebrate your Karwa Chauth and pray to god for your husband’s long and health life and prosperity.

Get decked up

As mentioned earlier, it is a day of great happiness and is believed to bring good life ahead. So, before doing anything, get dolled up. Wear the best saree that you have. Women preferably wear red color saree as red color is believed to be the denoting color of a married women. Get your jewelry polished and your nails done. Look your best and grab some amazing compliments from your husband. After all, you are doing all this for him only. Women also get their hands painted with beautiful Mehendi and get a complete bridal look.

Food check

As you have to do a fast that too without water, you need to eat a healthy diet a day before. Make it sure that you get enough nutrition in your body to work efficiently in the next day. In this fast, women do not eat and drink anything until they worship the moon. After that, their husbands feed them well with love and care and thank them for their kind efforts and unconditional care. So, do not forget to avoid water and food for the whole day.

The aim

According to psychologists, women do the Karwa Chauth to make a vow that they have a positive impact on their husband’s mind and heart. So, to achieve this, try to spend this day with your husband. Realize the fact that you are doing this for him and he should be there to constantly support you.

Preparations

Get up early in the morning and take a good bath. Make yourself feel refresh and get ready in the best way possible. Eat some fresh fruits and have some appetizers to get your body prepared for the next few hours.

Worship

It is all about god and its worship. This day is based on a belief of asking something to god and getting it from him. So, to please god, fasting is not enough. You need to devote some time for his worship too. On this day, Lord Shiva  and Goddess Parvarti are believed to be worship. Pray to god whole heartedly.

Story reading

Karwa chauth is said to be incomplete if you don’t hear or recite the story of its origin. Sit with all the other ladies who are accompanying you and read or hear the story of Karwa chauth to know why is it celebrated.

Waiting

The fast is marked to an end with the worshipping of moon that night. After which you can drink water and have your meal properly. Wait for the moon to show up, there is a certain ‘Muhurat’ according to the Hindu Mythology. You have to complete your Pooja within that time only. Ask your husband to be with you at that time.

After scenes

After you are done with worshipping the moon, women are asked to touch her husband’s feet and all the other elder ladies’ feet who are present there. This is a token of respect towards your loved one and to tell them that their dignity is always maintained in your eyes.

Food

After you are done with all the rituals, you can now eat the delicacies with your husband. Feed each other and show your love. Eat nicely as you have been on a fast all day long and drink good amount of water to prevent dehydration in your body.
